Team Pedal Slave entered into the 2004 BMX season ready and willing to compete and compete they did. Several of the racers finished number one in State, in district and State age group points. Class wise, most all of the riders where number one in their respective classes. In the Wyoming State Championship Series, Team Pedal Slave finished 3rd in Casper’s State Qualifier, 2nd in Douglas’s State Qualifier and 2nd and 3rd in Gillette’s State Qualifier with two different teams.

In Wyoming’s State Championship races held in Gillette, Wyoming, the team took 2nd and 3rd place as well with two teams representing Team Pedal Slave. A month later, Team Pedal Slave had one team in the South Dakota State Championship in Rapid City, South Dakota. At that race, Team Pedal Slave finished in 3rd but was one point away from being in a three-way tie for first place.

On the National level, our riders competed at several events individually. These races ranged from the ABA World Championships in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada to the Mile High Nationals in Dacono, Colorado. However, in Dacono, we competed as a team for first time at a major National race. There were nearly 1,200 riders competing against each other and it was a great first experience for our team. We had several riders place into their respective finals, but not enough to get into the top three positions for trophies.

At the ABA BMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Team Pedal Slaved competed well against other nationally ranked riders. To compete at the Grand Nationals, you must qualify by being one of the top riders in your State or District. The team worked hard at raising funds to assure the whole team could make the races in Tulsa over Thanksgiving weekend. We had several racers just missing the main events, which takes two days of racing to qualify for a chance to race in the main event. After the success the riders did have at the Grand Nationals, Team Pedal Slave became nationally ranked at 63rd out of nearly 100 National trophy teams.

As Team Pedal Slave enters into the 2005 race season, the team has added a couple of riders to help push our team to the top locally and nationally. Dabion "The Nightmare" Bachtold is the Number One racer in all of Wyoming. He took first in most every race he was in in Wyoming and South Dakota in 2004. ‘The Nightmare’ also competed in several National Race Series. Because of Dabion’s exposure and level of racing, he is recognized as one of the top riders in the country for his age and class, 10-expert.

In addition to ‘The Nightmare", Team Pedal Slave added the number one 8-intermediate in the state of Wyoming. Kaige "The Ragin Cajun" Bowles did an outstanding job of dominating his age class in 2004. As he enters into the 2005 race season at 9-intermediate, he will be a dominating force and should move quickly into the 9-expert group where he should do equally as well with his hard work ethic.

The teams success is now driving their desire to compete at several regional Nationals that could push the team higher in National standings in 2005. The team will then look forward to being one of top Trophy Teams at 2005’s Race of Champions and the Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma during Thanksgiving week. All of our riders believe they can be number one in their respective classes and help Team Pedal Slave to the podium as being the number one team at Grand Nationals.
